D&B performs all civil engineering and supporting electrical and structural engineering design work in-house with an experienced staff of engineers. “On-call” services in particular require a quick response and professionalism and a wide range of in-house expertise, which D&B can deliver to any client.

D&B’s Civil Engineering Division works primarily on projects in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and has provided continual services to numerous Incorporated Villages and Special Municipal Districts, as well as the State of New York, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland Counties; the Towns of Oyster Bay, North Hempstead, Hempstead, Huntington, Islip, Brookhaven, Southampton, Southold and Shelter Island; the City of Glen Cove and City of Long Beach; and to private industry. Providing services to our diverse Long Island clients has developed our knowledge and rapport with local regulatory agencies who may have authority over projects an owner may be contemplating.

The firm has designed projects and provided services similar to those which are typically contemplated by property owners and municipalities, and is familiar with the approval processes, permitting, and local issues associated with these projects. D&B also provides assistance in securing grants or low-cost financing for many projects that the owner may be planning.

D&B has provided “on-call” civil engineering services for projects as diverse as building and roof repairs; drainage problem investigations; oil tank testing, registration, removal and installation; installation of backflow prevention devices; building modifications to provide ADA access for the disabled; inspection of fire damaged property; swimming pool repairs; repair to waterfront structures; and subdivision review.

D&B’s Civil Engineering Division was selected by Cold Spring Harbor Lab to develop an innovative drainage design and sediment and erosion control system as part of the site improvements design for the facility’s $200M expansion. This project received the “2007 Project of the Year Award” from the Nassau County Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers.

D&B has previously served as the consultant of choice for “on-call” services to various Villages and Towns to respond to drainage complaints by property owners. Typically, the Village/Town provides us with the complaint. We contact and meet with the property owner, investigate the problem and provide the Village/Town with a short report which presents our findings and recommendations. When authorized by the Village/Town, plans for the repairs are developed so that bids can be received and repairs made.
