Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers (D&B) offers comprehensive multimedia environmental compliance and permitting services for colleges and universities of all sizes. In a fashion similar to that which D&B utilizes in support of multimedia compliance audits for the aerospace industry, oil storage and distribution facilities, chemical and petroleum marine transportation, semiconductor and microelectronics, commuter railroad operations, hospitals and healthcare facilities and most recently, fleet maintenance facilities, D&B provides comprehensive multimedia compliance services to colleges and universities, as well as associated off campus facilities, such as residential buildings.
Over the last 15 years, D&B’s multimedia compliance audit experience has grown and expanded in support of a broad spectrum of commercial and industrial sectors, including pharmaceutical, semiconductor and microelectronics, commuter/freight railroad transportation, electric and gas utilities, research facilities, and colleges and universities. Whether providing services to a multi- building campus that represents one operating unit within a large university system, or a small, community college, multimedia environmental compliance requires a team approach.
That is where D&B can help. D&B’s multimedia environmental compliance team draws upon the expertise of several engineering disciplines and environmental experts with the necessary support staff. Each member of the multimedia team has extensive compliance experience, combined with engineering, scientific and project management qualifications in specific environmental media. In addition, certain managers and senior staff members within D&B have prior regulatory agency experience as hazardous waste, solid waste, and wastewater program compliance inspectors and permit managers.
Working together with campus staff, D&B completes a systematic review of standard operating practices and policies, permit conditions, applicable regulations and operating records. In addition, D&B conducts a thorough inspection of the campus and reviews all waste generation and handling processes and operations. The audit team then completes a systematic determination of the status of compliance of the institution with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as appropriate. When needed, recommendations for corrective action ranging, for example, from procedural or programmatic changes including a new or modified standard operating procedure, to the development of a hazardous waste management plan, or the design and implementation of improved above/underground storage tank systems are presented, along with engineering cost estimates. D&B can provide customized environmental compliance training programs and can work with faculty to reduce use of hazardous chemicals or to phase out use of mercury containing equipment.
Whether you are an environmental manager investigating ways to lower your risk of noncompliance and protecting yourself from potential penalties or an administrator who desires to establish an environmental policy aimed at improved environmental compliance by instituting a more formal environmental management program conducted by a third party, D&B can help. Let us find a solution that’s right for you!
