Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers (D&B) has been a leader in hazardous waste remedial investigation, remedial design and remedial construction management for twenty five years. D&B is also equipped to assist you in identifying, assessing and remediating “legacy-type” building materials containing asbestos, lead-based coatings, mercury and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) among other hazardous materials at your facility. Whether the situation involves a Brownfield project, a major demolition or de-construction program, a renovation or minor alteration, D&B can help. Hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, PCBs and mercury, when used as components in historical building materials, can present environmental and human health concerns during construction/demolition activities. Knowing the location, extent and concentration of these materials in structures prior to initiating your project eliminates surprises during construction and helps keep your project on schedule and within budget. It also helps to limit your liability with respect to worker and occupant exposure.
Deploying its properly trained, licensed/certified professionals, D&B provides comprehensive Hazardous Materials Management services. These include initial visual inspections, sampling programs, abatement design and project monitoring that identify and address environmental liabilities, thereby managing risk and allowing our clients to focus on maximizing the economic potential of the overall project. D&B can also provide the required independent air sampling and monitoring during construction/demolition activities.
If appropriate, D&B’s design professionals will incorporate Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) requirements along with other appropriate green/sustainability concepts into the abatement design. This results in increasing the volume of recycled material while decreasing the volume of material otherwise destined for landfill disposal thus lowering project costs.
Overall, conducting a thorough and comprehensive Hazardous Materials Assessment early in the planning phases of your project, invariably acts as an inexpensive insurance policy aimed at protecting you from future claims related to unknown hazards.
