Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers (D&B) has engineered numerous sanitary sewerage systems and pumping stations. The firm has handled several complete sewerage system projects, as well as numerous extensions of sewage collection systems. D&B has extensive experience in conducting sanitary sewer surveys and alternative rehabilitation analysis and design. The firm has produced contract documents for complete replacement and for in-line repair/rehabilitation. Our analysis takes into account the economics of the project both on a capital cost and as an indirect cost to the residents and commercial areas that may be affected. Owner preference for specific alternatives are incorporated by preparation of an alternative evaluation report which provides the technical, environmental and cost impacts of all approaches. In this way, non-cost impacts such as inconvenience to homeowners and businesses can be factored into the alternative selection. D&B has designed hundreds of new and rehabilitated pumping station projects ranging in size from 100 to 210,000 gallons per minute. In addition to new pump installation, the design aspects of these projects included installation of multiplex teleme- |
try systems, flow metering, mechanical, electric, ventilation equipment, structural and architectural repairs, installation of electrical generating and transmission facilities, new electrical substations, pump speed control systems, bypass pumping systems (for construction) and odor control systems. In addition, the firm has handled the re-routing of sewage flows between treatment plants via force mains from a few hundred feet long to over 2½ miles. Also completed were several estuarine outfall projects with pipe sizes from 36-inch to 120-inch diameter. Force main routes are selected to minimize utility disruption, environmental impacts, traffic concerns, homeowner inconvenience and commercial impacts while balancing long-term structural stability and cost. D&B is a full-service firm and will complete all studies required; environmental reviews and permit acquisition; preparation of preliminary, conceptual and detailed design documents; remediation of any site contamination; design services during construction; resident engineering and construction management/schedule services; operation and maintenance manual preparation; start-up and training services. |
