Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers (D&B) has an experienced team of professionals with in-depth experience in all aspects of water supply system analysis, evaluation, design, construction, operation and management. The firm provides complete engineering services for municipal, private and industrial clients including source water development, feasibility studies, preparation of plans and specifications, construction inspection, preparation of O&M manuals and community relations/public participation.

Staff members are experienced in determining the magnitude of the demands for water, evaluating water sources for quality and quantity, designing water supply systems which will deliver a reliable supply of water to the consumer, and conducting water audits and water conservation plans.

D&B staff includes experts in the design, construction and operation of groundwater supply wells and surface intake systems. Ground level and elevated storage tanks are designed to meet diurnal demands, stabilizing pressure and providing a source of water during emergency conditions.

Computer analyses of distribution systems is used to determine pipe sizing and pressure throughout the system under various demands and plan necessary improvements.

D&B specializes in the design of water treatment facilities to meet regulatory requirements. Treatment facilities include: countercurrent packed aeration columns and granular activated carbon adsorption units for the removal of volatile organics, countercurrent regenerated ion exchange units for the removal of nitrates, pH adjustment facilities utilizing lime or sodium hydroxide, disinfection facilities using liquid chlorine or sodium hypochlorite, and iron and manganese removal plants using manganese green sand filters.

D&B engineering and certified hydrogeologists undertake groundwater studies specifically related to the protection of water supply. Project responsibilities range from program design, to monitoring system development and installation, to determination and implementation of groundwater management plans. Computer based groundwater modeling is used to predict contaminated flow, and sufficient advance time is estimated to permit a determination of appropriate treatment and the design and construction of treatment facilities in time to prevent restrictions on well utilization.
